Annette Benson serves as the Senior Public Relations Consultant for the Center for Intercultural Learning, Mentorship, Assessment and Research (CILMAR) and as the manager of the Intercultural Learning Hub (HubICL), a science gateway providing a platform for intercultural learning, global learning, and DEI professionals to share expertise and resources worldwide. 

Description:
In this highly interactive session, the presenter will demonstrate the facilitation of five activities for teaching the concept of intersectionality. Beginning with a discussion of the original source document which introduced the term "intersectionality" into academic conversation, the workshop participants will move on to discuss how they might use other academic resources, as well as games, podcasts, and videos to assist participants in building intercultural self-awareness and intercultural empathy for the intersectionality of others. Finally, participants will use the previous conversations to synthesize why participants may or may not want to reveal their own intersectionality relating to COVID and better solutions to engaging in the COVID- intersectionality topic than having participants reveal their own relationship to COVID.
