Biography
Dr. Nasreen Lalani is an experienced researcher, clinician, and educator with diverse background in nursing and health disciplines. Her experience spans three continents—working in Pakistan, Australia and North America (US & Canada). Dr. Lalani is primarily a qualitative researcher, with a research focus in the areas of aging and palliative care, spirituality, and resilience in disaster recovery. Most of her research work is community focused working among underrepresented and vulnerable population using different qualitative research designs. Her future research program aims to improve palliative care services while integrating spirituality as a core component of palliative care to improve the quality of life of patients and families in the community. Dr Lalani strongly believes that palliative care access is a universal human right and to pursue her goal, she recently received an internal AgSeed grant (Agricultural Science and Extension for Economic Development) to improve access to palliative care and rural well being in rural Indiana. Dr Lalani has been largely engaged in community services at different levels. She is a strong advocate of women empowerment and diversity. During her short internship at the Ministry of Women, Government of Alberta and Alberta Council for Women Shelter, she has worked at policy level advocating for women rights and empowerment. At Purdue University, she keeps herself actively engaged in activities from Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership and other diversity initiatives.
