About
This project developed and demonstrated a framework for the statistical assessment of cultural interventions on cultural competency. The framework involves identification of the preferred unit of cultural competency; measurement of the effectiveness of the cultural intervention in terms of the preferred unit of cultural competency; ascertaining whether the intervention was effective; and modeling the intervention effectiveness as a function of at least one attribute associated with the intervention and the participants. The developed framework is applied to a case study (a 2-week trip undertaken by Purdue University students to Singapore in May 2022). The results demonstrate that (i) the framework is feasible for implementation, and (ii) the studied cultural intervention was effective in enhancing the intercultural competence of the students in the case study. The presented framework can be applied to other types of cultural intervention to measure their effectiveness.
