This is an updated version of the Commons Game, based on the theoretical ideas of Garrett Hardin and the simulation by Julian Edney.

The original Commons Game was created by Christina A. Hope and Ronald G. Stover.

Hope, C. A., & Stover, R. G. (1982). The commons game: An exercise in resource allocation. Teaching Sociology, 9(4), 383-399. Retrieved from https://www.jstor.org/stable/1316890

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to: 1. Discuss how important trust is in group relations and group-imposed sanctions. 2. Understand Hardin's tragedy of the commons. 3. Understand issues about resource allocation, sustainability, and gains for the individual vs. the group. 4. Apply the commons principle to environmental issues such as climate change.
