Country Navigator is a valuable formative tool. The topics explored and feedback given are helpful, as is the opportunity to compare and discuss results with others. Perhaps not meant to be inclusive, the tool targets/constructs a classless set of white collar workers (e.g., no housekeeping staff member or construction worker appear as team members) and makes no reference to how structural power differences (not just perspectives on power distance) may also inform interactions. Anyone using the tool with a group would do well to supplement discussion with these considerations.

Country Navigator is an interactive and engaging online learning tool for improving intercultural knowledge and engagement, with audio and video content for easy learning on both general topics related to Cultural Intelligence and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as country-specific material on wide-ranging topics (i.e., politics to business etiquette). It is also a nuanced instrument that will appeal to the novice-to-expert faculty, staff, and students who are often on-the-go but want to brush up on country-specific knowledge as they travel and/or work with others from around the globe. Also, the team self-evaluation component of Country Navigator adds several interesting ways to think about yourself in the context of working with colleagues and being able to collaborate more effectively across cultures. Finally, the ability to document online activities of students is useful for instructors who want to better understand how Country Navigator is motivating students to learn more and develop their understanding of the impact that culture has on people. In short, Country Navigator is the perfect tool for supplementing a study abroad experience!
