Not to be confused with the National Cancer Institutes FAB or Food Attitudes Behavior study, which is a 65 question instrument about healthy eating habits. This 29-item survey has been found to map well onto other validated tests for openness and tolerance of ambiguity. It's also very relevant to participation in study abroad and other cultural exchange situations. Notes on scoring the shortened instrument available on the downloads tab follow:

  • The first four questions are context questions (do not add them into final score).
  • The following questions are reverse-scored: #4; #5;#8; #10; #13; #18; #19.
  • This shortened version has not yet undergone statistical validity-testing of the full instrument; thus best used for formative assessments (as a discussion starter).

If you are unfamiliar with the practice of reverse-scoring, you may wish to access this explanatory pdf of the process.
