A Qualtrics version of this assessment added by Prof. James Davis, College of Engineering, Purdue University

This is a 15 question version of a longer instrument. If used as a formative assessment, e.g. for group discussion or individualized feedback, it can also increase the learner's self-awareness.

This assessment is widely used in the research literature for both outcomes of study abroad and diversity training. It is one of a select few non-proprietary but fully validated instruments that measure comfort with difference. Note that this is a high face validity instrument. In formative assessment use, this is a feature, not a bug! To reduce possible concerns about social desirability bias in situations where a summative assessment is desirable, use the retrospective post-test method.
