This is a lovely little exercise for illustrating the differences between the concepts of "intercultural competence" (which focuses on person-to-person skills) & global citizenship (which focuses more on communities, social responsibility & interconnectedness). A good discussion about this could be had by asking students to compare the similarities and the differences between the AACU rubric for intercultural competence & the ones for global learning and civic engagement. You can even ask them to combine from all three to make the perfect rubric for grading an assignment or course! And defend their reasoning...
