I have done this activity many times in person and highly recommend it for any learners who need to get to a more complex understanding of culture (whose minds immediately jump to nationality whenever cultural difference is mentioned). I found this often to be the case with language and linguistics students, especially those who associate the language they are studying with a particular country or who are planning to go live/work in another country. I recently did the activity online for the first time and it translated very well to the virtual synchronous platform. Learners just needed something to draw on/with and a camera to share their drawings during debriefing; it could probably work without the latter, though. I think it could even be used asynchronously in a discussion board format if needed.
