Through the use of this formative assessment, learners will begin to be able to see how values are expressed through behavior. If used with an instructor debrief or group discussion, learner may also begin to understand that other individuals or cultures have similar or different values.

This is a particularly useful activity for students in denial, as it can help them (begin to) differentiate personal behavior from culturally-influenced value systems.
