This exercise was developed, pre-pandemic, during a semester when our university wanted to help students learn to bridge difference better and develop stronger civil discourse skills. In times of crisis (e.g. as I am writing this), individuals tend to polarize around value differences & often desperately need to learn how to disagree better. This exercise could be easily adapted to online learning modes using the breakout rooms function of Webex or Zoom. Or look here for some ideas on how to do breakout discussions in Google Hangouts.
