Have you ever noticed that in the best super-hero movies, every hero has his or her own strength, fully distinct from those of the others, but still valued?  StrengthFinders can help individuals in a group see how being different from others is a GOOD thing.  It's a relatively non-polarizing way of discussing difference & coming to realize that even teams that are not composed of superheroes can benefit a lot from diversity!

In a past life, I served as a diversity and inclusion trainer on a human resources team. After our work team did the StrengthFinders assessment, we followed up by reading Marcus' Buckingham's Go Put Your Strengths to Work: 6 Powerful Steps to Achieve Outstanding Performance and discussed how we could create a job for ourselves that played to our strengths. Ten years later, I still think about those conversations and how to apply what I learned.

When I was first given a group of students to turn into a team of leaders, I bought them each a copy of How Full Is Your Bucket? along with a small metal bucket and a supply of note papers in the shape of drops. When they arrived at team meetings, they were given time to write a note to 3-5 teammates focusing on their teammates' strengths and were then asked to deposit their drop-shaped notes in the appropriate buckets. When I left that position, they each "wrote a drop" to me and filled my bucket with them.
