In using this instrument with a service-learning course for first-year students, it was found that, while the learners had all entered college with an abundance of prior community service experience, they'd mostly not yet made progress on connecting public service to the need for cultural competence & the practice of ethical leadership.  This was a great boon to the instructor in allowing shaping of the subsequent year's curriculum to make these connections more explicit and accessible for participants.
