There is over a decade of research indicating a strong correlation between creativity and immersion in another culture (e.g. work abroad, living abroad, long-term study abroad) and or multicultural experiences. The creativity rubric can be used to help learners work on tolerance of ambiguity ("risk-taking") or ability to shift perspectives ("embracing contradictions"), especially in situations where they are otherwise hesitant to engage with folks from other cultures.

For the AAC&U rubrics, the word "VALUE" is an abbreviation of Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education.
