This activity helps with better understanding how we form relationships and how we frame them. This understanding in turn helps us to better engage in those relationships and be more intentional about developing existing relationships as well as forming new ones. It's also beneficial in helping us to be strategic about finding a balance in a diverse network of people. This is a thoughtful and timely activity. A quick Google search returns numerous articles on loneliness and the difficulty people have making new friends, maintaining relationships, and in having more diverse relationships.

As someone relatively new in a community who did this activity as a "student" (participant), I found it helpful in thinking about my social needs and how I might go about filling those -- and filling those in ways that take me into more diverse relationships than I've had in the past. Just having this in the back of my mind as I think about reaching out to groups, hosting people in my home, etc., has been super helpful.
