Star Power is an amazing and effective learning experience. It totally does what it's designed to do. That said, it is one of those learning experiences that can provoke strong negative responses in some participant(s).  I first experienced it as a grad student in an intercultural education doctoral program. At that time--full disclosure--I measured in Minimization on the IDI.  I purely hated feeling "sneaked up on" when the rules changed (which is a key feature of the simulation) & it caused me to avoid simulation-based learning for quite some time afterward. (Looking back: as a woman aspiring to leadership roles, power was a hot button issue for me then.)

As a  facilitator I would now caution: know what you are getting into when you decide to use Star Power and have a good reading on the developmental stage(s) of your participants.
